Kumarbekov Muslim (1939) – a writer

He was born in the Shymkora village of Ulan district of East Kazakhstan oblast. After graduating the secondary school, he worked in the collective farm named after Zhambyl. After graduating the journalism faculty, for a long time he worked in the newspaper «Flag of Communism» (now «Didar»). Later, he worked as a deputy chief editor of the national literary and cultural and social magazine «Irtysh».
He is the author of «Laughing girl» (1969), «Coast youth», «Shynar», «Wild Irtysh» (1974), «My Altai is golden cradle», «House at the cliff», «Misery», «Chinara» (1978).
He is a member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, winner and member of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan.

Kunanbayev Turagul Abayuly (1875-1934) was a researcher of literature, translator, public figure.

He was born in 1875 in the Abai district of the East Kazakhstan region. Abai's youngest son. From an early age, he studied Muslim and Russian literacy. After the death of his father and younger brothers Ospan, Abdrahman and Magaui, Turagul became the head of the clan and a member of the local authorities. Being a member of the Alashorda, Turagul worked closely with such Alash figures as A. Bukeikhanov, M. Dulatov, Zh. Aimauytov.

Since 1922 he has been engaged in creative activity. The most valuable among his few works is the book of memoirs "Akem Abai Turaly".

Turagul wrote a memoir about his father at the request of M. Auezov, it is one of the first examples of this genre in Kazakh literature.

The author vividly and interestingly depicts the character and actions of his father, his state of mind before writing another verse. Turagul brought the poet's works into the system.

Turagul's creative work consists mainly of artistic translations. He translated into Kazakh the story of J. London "Eskimo Kish", the stories of Russian writers M. Gorky "Chelkash", A. S. Neverov "Mary the Bolshevik", "I want to live" and the Polish writer Boleslav Prus "Antek".

The story "Chelkash" in Kazakh was published in the magazine "Tan" in 1925.

In 1927, two of the above-mentioned works by A. S. Neverov were published in Moscow as a separate book under the titles "Men omirge zherikpin", "Ortakshyl Maria". The rest of the translations were also published in other publishing houses in Moscow.

Turagul translated the novel "Martin Eden" by J. London, but the manuscript has not been preserved.

In 1909, the first collection of Abai's works was published in St. Petersburg on the initiative of Turagul and his brother Kakitai.

Turagul is also known as a poet, he wrote poems "Alladan men kapa bop, tilegen kun", "Khat", "Abishke", "Zhauap Khat", etc.

In 1928 he was exiled to Shymkent, where he died in 1934 after a long illness.

In 1993, for the 150th anniversary of Abai, poems, the story "Chelkash" in Kazakh, memories of "Akem Abai Turaly" Turagul and an article about him were included in the collection "Abaydyn akyn shakirtteri" (1-book). And in the same year, the compiler B. Baigaliev published a separate book the memory of the Turagul "Akem Abai turaly".

Kumaruly Kap (1933-2009) – poet, teacher.

He was born on March 8, 1933 in the town of Koktogai, Altai District of the People's Republic of China. In 1955 he graduated from the Teacher training School of Mongolia. In 1955-2005 he was engaged in teaching. The Ministry of Education of Mongolia awarded him the title of "Excellent Student of Education of Mongolia". In 1992, he was awarded the title of "Advanced Teacher" of the Bayan-Olga district. Winner of the district, republican poetry competitions.

In 1992-2005, he moved to his historical homeland, worked at a secondary school in the village of Kainar, Abyralinsky district (now belongs to the territory of Semey) East Kazakhstan region, taught Kazakh language and literature in Kokozek secondary school of Urdzhar district, educated thousands of students.

In the same years, K. Kumaruly wrote a textbook "Halyktyk pedagogy – ulttyk kazyna", with the approval of the Regional Department of Education, the book was recommended as an auxiliary aid to teachers of the 19th school of Urdzhar district.

The Regional Department of Education highly appreciated the labor contribution of the oldest teacher to the education of Kazakhstan – K. Kumaruly was awarded a "Certificate of Honor".

The author of the poetry collections "Kyzyl Tu", "Kos kanat", "Kos ishek", "Kariboz", "Taudai bolgym keledi", "Arpa ker".

Prize-winner of poetry competitions of Bayan-Olgiysky district and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Member of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan.

Kunanbaev Abai (Ibrahim) (1845-1904) – Kazakh poet and educator, founder of realistic written Kazakh literature, founder of the Kazakh literature language.

He was born in the Chingiz Mountains (now Karaul village of Abai district of East Kazakhstan oblast).
He studied at the Semipalatinsk madrassas, and then in the parish school, mastered Arabic, Persian and other Oriental languages, studied the works of great poets and scholars of the East. The founder of a new written Kazakh literature, poetry, and his famous «edification» promoted the educational and democratic ideas; he opposed the violence and arbitrariness of nobility, bribery, tribal disunity, strife, injustice against women, unequal marriages.
Abai translated into Kazakh language the works of Russian and foreign classics: about 50 translations of A.S. Pushkin, M. Lermontov, I.A. Krylov, I. Bunin, and Goethe, Byron.
In memory of Abai, it was established State Prize of Kazakhstan in the field of literature, his name is given to a town, administrative districts, streets, theaters, libraries, monuments installed.
